Work-in-Progress Screening: Here/Then/Now by Rima Yamazaki
Thursday, May 14, 7:00 - 8:00 PM
Gallery 198 (198 24th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11232)
Free, RSVP (registration is encouraged but not required)
Filmmaker Rima Yamazaki will convene an evening to present a work-in-progress screening of her creative documentary, Here/Then/Now (working title), which weaves together present-day cityscapes of New York and the city's often-overlooked histories. In this film, the filmmaker explores and documents the city’s landscape while collecting historical accounts of the early days of Manhattan. A meditative journey across Manhattan, the film examines how the city transforms over time, how memories are forgotten, how histories are erased, and what we can see and cannot see.
Yamazaki will share a short version of the project, specially edited for this evening's presentation, followed by an informal Q&A.
